1940s -Wartime & Big Band
World War II dominated the first half of the 1940s, shaping history with events like Pearl Harbor (1941) and D-Day (1944). Women stepped into new roles, working in factories and inspiring the iconic Rosie the Riveter image. When the war ended, the Baby Boom began, bringing new families and optimism. On the entertainment front, big band music ruled the airwaves, and crooners like Frank Sinatra stole hearts. The decade also gave us the first television broadcasts, making home entertainment more exciting than ever.
